Lunch Discussion to Focus on Religion,
History and Politics of Islam

EAU CLAIRE — Women on Wednesdays will be offering a brown bag lunch presentation, "Introduction to Islam in the Middle East: Religion, History and Politics," Wednesday, Feb. 12. The discussion is the first in a three-part series.
All three discussions will be held from 12:10 to 12:50 p.m. in the Alumni Room of Davies Center. Part one will focus on the religion of Islam. Lori Rowlett, assistant professor of philosophy and religious studies at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, will lead the discussion.
Kate Lang, assistant professor of history, will lead part two on Wednesday, Feb. 19, discussing the history of Islam in the Middle East.
Ali Abootalebi, associate professor of political science, will finish the program on Wednesday, Feb. 26, with a discussion on the politics of Islam in the Middle East.
The three-part program is free and open to the public.
WOW is sponsored by the UW-Eau Claire Women's Studies Program, Wisconsin Women in Higher Education Leadership, the UW-Eau Claire Commission on the Status of Women, Women in Higher Education-Eau Claire, American Association of University Women-Eau Claire, UW-Eau Claire Center for History Teaching and Learning and Vice Chancellor and Provost Ronald Satz and the Office of Academic Affairs.
