Area High School Students to Compete
In Math Meet at UW-Eau Claire

         EAU CLAIRE — Students from 17 western Wisconsin and eastern Minnesota counties are registered to participate in the 21st annual regional Mathematics Meet Saturday, Feb. 15, with registration beginning at 8 a.m. in Hibbard Hall at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
         Participants from 40 teams representing their schools will compete for team championships as well as individual honors by solving mathematics problems. The UW-Eau Claire mathematics department hosts the annual meet.
         UW-Eau Claire scholarships, funded by a grant from Xcel Energy, will be awarded to the top four individual winners in each of three divisions at the awards ceremony scheduled for approximately 1:50 p.m. in Room 100 of Hibbard Hall. First- and second-place teams and top individuals will receive trophies, and all student competitors will receive T-shirts.
         In the event of inclement weather, an alternate date of Saturday, Feb. 22, has been set for the meet.
