Canadian Singer-songwriter Karen Kosowski
To Perform at UW-Eau Claire
MAILED: Feb. 3, 2003
EAU CLAIRE — Toronto singer-songwriter Karen Kosowski will perform three rootsy rock-pop shows at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Feb. 6-8. The free concerts will begin at 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday in The Cabin of Davies Center.
A multi-instrumentalist and producer, Karen Kosowski has three independent commercial releases distributed across Canada that showcase her gritty, honest songwriting and vivid music making. Released in fall 2002, "Optimist Party" is a catchy collection of hard-hitting songs featuring Kosowski on vocals, guitar and bass, accompanied by a stellar collection of Canada's most in-demand instrumentalists.
Kosowski has played myriad venues across North America, including New York City's The Living Room, Toronto's Capital Event Theatre and The Rivoli, and Boston's formidable Club Passim, where icons Bob Dylan and Joan Baez originated. Kosowski has shared concert lineups with the likes of Mary Margaret O'Hara, Jeff Healey and 10,000 Maniacs.
The shows are open to all ages. Soft drinks, domestic and imported beer, wine coolers and popcorn will be sold. Proof of age is required for alcohol purchases.
The Cabin program is sponsored by the University Activities Commission of the UW-Eau Claire Student Senate.
