EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire music and theatre arts department will present the following musical performances the week beginning Monday, Feb. 10. All events are free and open to the public.Sunday, Feb. 16:
- Paul Kosower, professor of music, will present a faculty cello recital at 2 p.m. in Phillips Recital Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. The program will consist of three of J.S. Bach's "Six Solo Suites" performed on Kosower's 1751 cello. Kosower has performed recitals throughout the United States and Europe and has been a solo performer with many orchestras, including the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra and the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra.
- Les Favorites will present a faculty recital at 4 p.m. in Phillips Recital Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. Faculty performers will include Dr. Tim Lane, associate professor of music, on the baroque flute; Ivar Lunde Jr., professor of music, on the baroque oboe; and Nanette Lunde, professor of music, on the harpsichord. Also performing in Les Favorites are guest artists Lucinda Marvin on the baroque violin and Laura Handler on the baroque violoncello. The program will begin with Sonate en Quatour for Flute, Oboe, Violin and Basso Continuo by Louis-Antoine Dornel. Les Favorites also will perform Sonata in C Minor for Flute and Basso Continuo by Pierre Taillart; Sonata on "Pinkie House" for Violin and Basso Continuo by Robert MacIntosh; and Premiere Recreation du Musique, Op. 6, for Flute, Oboe, Violin and Basso Continuo by Jean Marie Leclair.
