EAU CLAIRE — University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire students, faculty and staff invite members of the Chippewa Valley community to join them in commemorating the life of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. A brief sunset ceremony is planned for Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Monday, Jan. 20.
The ceremony, titled "In Honor of The Man and His Dream," will be held from 5 to 5:15 p.m. at the Ecumenical Religious Center at 110 Garfield Ave. The candlelight celebration of the philosophy and ideas of one of America's most important historical figures will include music and excerpts from King's well-known "I have a dream …" speech.
Sponsors of the annual Martin Luther King Jr. celebration include the Ecumenical Religious Center and UW-Eau Claire's American Ethnic Coordinating Office and Activities and Programs Office. For more information about the celebration, call the American Ethnic Coordinating Office at (715) 836-3367.
