UW-Eau Claire to Offer Acu-Yoga,
Chinese 18 Postures and Tai-Chi

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire is offering Wednesday evening classes in Acu-yoga, Chinese 18 Postures and Tai-Chi.
Acu-yoga blends traditional Hatha yoga postures, breathing focus and access to acupressure and acupuncture points. Body, mind and spirit are all addressed in the class, which runs from 5-6:15 p.m. Feb. 5, 12, 19, 26 and March 5 in the McPhee Dance Studio, Room 105, of the McPhee Physical Education Center. The course fee is $23 for UW-Eau Claire students, faculty and staff and $38 for community members.
Chinese 18 Postures involves a series of gentle stretching and breathing techniques to help avoid stiffness and achy muscles. The postures are also used to strengthen and lubricate joints, improve posture and balance, and prevent injuries. Classes are scheduled from 5-6 p.m. Feb. 5, 12, 19, 26 and March 5 and 12 in Room 106 of McPhee. The fee is $23 for UW-Eau Claire students, faculty and staff and $38 for community members.
Tai-Chi participants will learn how to establish a calm mind and body by practicing slow rhythmical movements designed to neutralize mental and physical stresses. Physical benefits of Tai-Chi include greater flexibility, improved functioning of internal organs, increased blood flow and strengthening of bones. The class is slated for 7-8:30 p.m. Feb. 5, 12, 19, 26; March 5, 12, 26; and April 2, 9 and 16 in the McPhee Dance Studio. The fee is $47 for UW-Eau Claire students, faculty and staff and $72 for community members.
