John PerkinsThe Forum. John Perkins, bestselling author of "Confessions of an Economic Hit Man," will discuss his plan for a sustainable and stable world during a lecture titled "Geopolitics, the Future and You: A Call to Action." John Perkins has lived four lives: as an economic hit man; as the CEO of an alternative energy company; as an expert on shamanism and indigenous cultures; and as a writer, who, through his 2004 book about his experience as an economic hit man, revealed the corruption turning the American republic into a widely despised global empire. Tickets, available at the Service Center, are $8 for the public, $6 for those 62 and older and UW System/CVTC faculty/staff, or $4 for those 17 and younger and UW System/CVTC students. UW-Eau Claire Blugolds logoCourt 'n Rink Luncheon. UW-Eau Claire's head women's basketball coach Tonja Englund and head men's hockey coach Matt Loen will comment on the current season. Dave RudolfHoliday Comedy Concert. The Dave Rudolf Holiday Show, a free comedy concert for families with kids of all ages, will be presented. Rudolf's madcap theatrical production of songs, humor and heavy audience participation makes for an ideal family event. It features kids twisting to the "Candy Cane Twist," hula hooping to "Santa's Got a Zoot Suit," some traditional holiday tunes, Christmas parodies ("Oh Come, Oh Come, I Read the Manual," "The Little Dumber Boy," "Frosty the Slow Man") and lots of yuletide joy. Women's Basketball — 'Pack Zorn Night.' Students at tonight's game against UW-Platteville can register for a chance to take a shooting challenge and win a semester's tuition. At halftime, a student will try to make a layup, free throw, three-point shot and half-court shot. If the student makes all the shots within the time allotted, he or she will win the tuition prize. "Almost Maine" graphicUniversity Theatre. Featuring John Cariani's "Almost Maine," directed by Laura Wayth. On a cold, clear, moonless night in the middle of winter, all is not quite what it seems in the remote, mythical town of Almost, Maine. As the northern lights hover in a star-filled sky above, Almost’s residents find themselves falling in and out of love in unexpected and often hilarious ways. Book Sale/Signing. The co-authors and main illustrator of a children's book with an environmentally friendly message will be available to sign books. Human Diversity Expo. UW-Eau Claire education and social work students will share the results of their diversity research projects during the 21st Bi-Annual Human Diversity Expo. The Expo will feature projects designed by 140 students currently enrolled in "Social Foundations of Human Relations," a course taught by Foundations of Education faculty members Jill Pinkney Pastrana, Christin DePouw and Aram deKoven.
