Flu shots available to faculty, staff, students
syringeUW-Eau Claire's Student Health Service will offer flu shots for faculty, staff and students over the next three weeks in several campus locations. The fee, due at the time of injection, is $15 for students and $20 for faculty and staff. Cash or checks will be accepted.

Flu vaccine clinics will be offered as follows:

        Oct. 20, Hilltop Lounge, 5 to 7 p.m.
        Oct. 23, Potawatomi Room, Davies Center, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
        Oct. 28, Towers North conference room, 5 to 7 p.m.
        Oct. 29, Potawatomi Room, Davies Center, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
        Nov. 6, Potawatomi Room, Davies Center, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Faculty/Academic Staff Forums
The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs will present Faculty/Academic Staff Forums this semester. The programs will be held from 12:10 to 12:50 p.m. Wednesdays in the Presidents Room of Davies Center unless otherwise noted. Attendees are welcome to bring a brown bag lunch or tray.

        Oct. 22: Dan Herman, biology, "Morphing Yeast."
        Oct. 29: Wanrudee Buranakorn, art & design, "From Text to Image: Art Inspired by Words."

Foreign Languages
Beth Kozbial Ernst, Julie Adler and Kelly Wonder presented "Connecting L1 and L2 Students for a Content-Based Research Project" at the Wisconsin TESOL Annual Conference, "A Cross-World Puzzle: Exploring the Interconnectedness of Language, Culture and Community," Oct. 3 in Eau Claire.

Dominique Thévenin's book review of Sorj Chalandon's "Une Promesse" was published in The French Review, Vol. 82, No. 1, October 2008. Go to top of page

Geography and Anthropology
Harry Jol, UW-Eau Claire geography alumnus Jake McDonald (now a graduate student at the University of Georgia), Phil Reeder (University of South Florida), Richard Freund (University of Hartford) and Emmanuel Anati co-authored a paper titled “Ground Penetrating Radar Aided Archaeological Survey on Har Karkom (Mt. Sinai?), Israel,” which was presented at the Association of American Geographers 104th Annual Meeting April 15-19 in Boston, Mass. An abstract of paper was published on page 458 of the conference Program and Abstracts CD-ROM. Go to top of page

Music and Theatre Arts
Kristine Fletcher was invited to perform two new compositions at the annual conference of the Iowa Composers Forum, "Music in the Shape of a Pear New Music Festival," Oct. 11 at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. She also performed a new composition for bassoon and piano with pianist Beverly Soll at the First Fridays community program Oct. 10 in Eau Claire. Go to top of page
