Snow safety reminders
Winter presents special hazards due to blends of snow, freezing rain, ice, wind and low visibility during storms. Grounds and various building custodial crews may be removing snow at any time of day or night. Depending on conditions and storm length, snow removal may take more than two days to complete.
To ensure everyone’s safety and to allow for timely removal of snow and ice, please remember the following points:
• Snow is being removed for your safety.
• Give snow removal equipment operators plenty of room. Visibility is very poor at times.
• Be aware of back-up alarms and flashing lights.
• Try to park in an area that has already been plowed.
• Dress appropriately for the weather and use safe footwear.
• Be aware that snow and salt tracked into buildings can create slippery floors.
• Be patient and give yourself extra time to move around campus.
Information about campus snow and Ice removal is available online. For more information, call Facilities Planning and Management at 836-3411.
