UW-Eau Claire communications professionals win awards at CASE V conference
UW-Eau Claire advancement and communications staff members received seven awards at the 2007 Council for Advancement and Support of Education Great Lakes District V conference Dec. 9-11 in Chicago. Ann Hoffman, senior editor in the News Bureau, was appointed to a two-year term on the CASE V board of directors last year and serves as chair of the Pride of CASE V awards program. Mari Jo Janke, director of the Publications Office, serves as vice chair. UW-Eau Claire award winners were: John Bachmeier, Mike Rindo, Rick Mickelson, Hoffman, Sheila Pederson, Bill Hoepner, Gretchen Hutterli, Kou Thao and Jamie Wilson. Full story.

Call for proposals for Summer Development Conference
Academic staff members are invited to submit proposals for the Summer Development Conference (formerly Academic Staff Leadership Conference) to be held July 17-18 at UW-Platteville The conference theme is "Leading Through Creative Ways."

The proposal form is available online. For more information, contact Jennifer Brockpahler at brockpjl@uwec.edu or 836-2787. Proposals are due Feb. 15.

Call for nominations for 2008 Women's Studies awards
Since 1982 the Women's Studies Program has recognized exemplary student projects and research nominated by faculty mentors. Emphasizing the contributions and roles of women, these works demonstrate the importance of creative student-faculty collaboration. In addition to originality, timeliness and contributions to the field, award criteria include emphasis on women and the potential impact of the project. Papers and projects in fulfillment of class requirements during the sessions of spring, summer and fall 2007 are eligible for nomination. Students do not need to be enrolled during the fall 2007 or spring 2008 semesters to be eligible.

Faculty/academic staff workshops and programs
The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs announces the following workshop and program deadlines.

Workshop:
        • A workshop on the Course, Curriculum, Laboratory and Instruction (CCLI) funding program for interdisciplinary programs will be held Feb. 6 from 12:10 to 12:50 p.m. as a brown bag lunch session in the Presidents Room of Davies Center.

Program Deadlines:
        • The UW System Symposium for Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity abstract and application deadline is Feb. 5.         • The deadline for Summer Research Experiences for Undergraduates Grants, University Research and Creative Activity and the Kell Container Corp. Scholarship for Faculty/Student Collaborative Research is Feb. 15.
