Following are examples of UW-Eau Claire people and programs that recently appeared in the media. NOTE: Some newspapers, including the Leader-Telegram, require free registration. John Bachmeier, Alumni Relations, was interviewed for the WEAU-TV story "Office work may cause weight gain." Robert Hooper, geology, was quoted in an article titled "Mum very much the word for panel" in the Sept. 22 issue of The Daily Iowan. Stephanie Zighelboim, Multicultural Affairs, and UW-Eau Claire students Carlos Villagrán and Laura Flores were quoted in the Sept. 21 Leader-Telegram article "Hispanic culture celebrated on campus." UW-Eau Claire alumnus Jesse Navara was included in the Sept. 20 Wall Street Journal article "Best in Class," which named the Wall Street Journal Student Achievement Award winners for 2006. UW-Eau Claire alumnus Mike Christenson was quoted in the Sept. 20 Leader-Telegram article "Developing downtown — Ideas for improvements fly at gathering." Justin Patchin, political science, and colleague Sameer Hinduja of Florida Atlantic University, were quoted in the Sept. 19 Ocala.com article "E-motional abuse — Bullies take schoolyard taunts to a new and more dangerous level." Haesung Won, a student from South Korea who came to UW-Eau Claire in July to study English, was the subject of the Sept. 19 St. Paul Pioneer Press article "A stranger embraced." Won suffered a brain hemorrhage the day she arrived on campus. Troy Terhark, University Recreation and Sport Facilities, was quoted in the WEAU-TV story "Predicting Lightning." The UW-Eau Claire kinesiology department's Community Fitness Program was the subject of the WEAU-TV story "UW-Eau Claire Fitness Program." |
