Candidates interview for affirmative action post
Three individuals will interview this week for the position of assistant to the chancellor for affirmative action. UW-Eau Claire faculty and staff are invited to participate in the interview process by attending the 2 p.m. open forum scheduled on each candidate's interview date. At the forums, to be held in Davies Theatre, the candidates will address the topic "What can you do in this position to help UW-Eau Claire students succeed?

Brown bag lunch seminars to focus on care giving
hands holding elderly handCaring for family members can create additional stress in the home and workplace. The Work/Life Initiative and Classified Staff for Professional Development Committees as well as the Chippewa Valley Family Caregiving Alliance will present the following brown bag lunch seminars for all employees:

  • "Caregiving 101" — Wednesday, Sept. 20, Menominee Room, Davies Center, noon to 1 p.m.
  • "Navigating the Social Service Maze/Caregiving Resources/Finding Community Resources" — Wednesday, Oct. 11, Tamarack Room, Davies Center, noon to 1 p.m.
  • "Taking Care of Yourself as a Caregiver" — Tuesday, Oct. 24, Tamarack Room, Davies Center, noon to 1 p.m.
  • "Taking Care of Yourself/Care Giving Resources" — Tuesday, Nov. 7, Tamarack Room, Davies Center, noon to 1 p.m.

Several wellness classes to begin this month
person in yoga poseUW-Eau Claire will offer a number of wellness classes beginning this month, including "Mind and Body Fitness Yoga," "Belly Dancing," "Chinese 18 Postures," and "Pilates."

"Mind and Body Fitness Yoga" combines elements of Hatha yoga with traditional fitness exercises and stretching routines to provide a revitalizing, non-purist yoga workout that integrates body, mind and breath for total performance. Strength, conditioning, breathing and relaxation components are featured, as well as an introduction to yoga history and philosophy. The class is appropriate for all ages and fitness levels. Participants should bring a yoga mat and wear comfortable clothing. More information, including class dates and registration details. Go to top of page
