Daylight-saving time changes to take effect soon This change will impact the time display on computers and other electronic devices that otherwise automatically adjust for the traditional daylight-saving time. It may also affect calendar items in Microsoft Outlook and other calendaring applications. During the weekend of Feb. 24-25, UW-Eau Claire's Learning and Technology Services updated all campus servers with a patch that will automatically adjust the computer time for the extended daylight-saving time period. The LTS Web site provides information for students, faculty and staff to prevent or minimize any problems due to the daylight-saving time changes. Those with questions regarding the updates or procedures should contact the LTS Help Desk at 715-836-5711. Awards recognize accomplishments

UW-Eau Claire's Environmental Adventure Center will host two events to celebrate Aldo Leopold Weekend. At 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27, the film "The Greatest Good" will screen at the EAC in the basement of Hilltop Center on the upper campus. The film, produced as part of the U.S. Forest Service's 100th anniversary, documents our rich natural heritage from the West Coast to the East and traces the Forest Service's evolving journey from the "wise use" of resources to the idea of a "land ethic." Admission is free. From 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, March 1, the second annual Aldo Leopold Banquet will honor the conservation legacy of Aldo Leopold and further foster the idea of developing a land ethic. Guest speakers will be Department of Natural Resources secretary P. Scott Hassett; watershed biologist Tex Hawkins; and UW-Eau Claire professors Dr. Sean Hartnett and Dr. John Hildebrand, both of whom teach the Aldo Leopold land ethic in their classes. Full story.
