Finals Week test scoring/grade collection information
Finals Week at UW-Eau Claire is Dec. 16 and 19-22. Tests should be brought to the Help Desk in Old Library 1144 for scoring during the following days and times:
• Friday, Dec. 16: 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• Sunday, Dec. 18: 1 to 10 p.m.
• Monday-Thursday, Dec. 19-22: 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
• Friday, Dec. 23: 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
• Tuesday, Dec. 27: 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The Registrar’s Office in Schofield 128 will collect grades from 7:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 16, 19-23 and 27. The grade reporting deadline is 4 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 27. 
Faculty/academic staff workshops and programs
The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs announces the deadline for the following programs:
• The Summer Research Experiences for Undergraduates Grants, University Research and Creative Activity and Kell Container Corp. Scholarship for Faculty/Student Collaborative Research deadline is Feb. 15, 2006.
Communication Sciences and Disorders
Thomas King (emeritus) presented an invited lecture on assistive technology Nov. 7 to special education graduate and undergraduate at UW-Superior. He also presented an invited lecture on phonatory function and vocal health in public speaking Nov. 16 to students and faculty at Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College-Superior. 
Counseling Services
Dick Boyum (emeritus) gave a presentation titled "Remember When? A Personal Gift to Family and Friends" about the importance of making recordings about one's life Dec. 7 at the L.E. Phillips Senior Center in Eau Claire. He also will present "I Bet I Can Improve Your Mental Health in One Hour" at the Badger State Sheriff's Association Convention Dec. 14 at the Plaza Hotel in Eau Claire. 
Foreign Languages
Juan Carlos Chaves has co-authored the book "El Gigante: America Latina," published in September 2005 by Moglia S.R.L., Corrientes, Argentina (ISBN 987-43-9858-2). Chaves' co-author, Ana Portugal, is a retired teacher of English and Italian who lives in Argentina. The book is an examination of the inequitable distribution of wealth and related social injustices in Latin America. See the book's author biographies and prologue.
Dominique Thévenin had a double review of Yann Queffélec's "La Dégustation" and "Moi et toi" published in the French Review, Vol. 79, No. 2, December 2005. 
Foreign Languages/History
Matt Waters presented a paper titled “Cyrus, the Medes and the Persians” at the World of Achaemenid Persia conference Sept. 30 at the British Museum in London. He also presented a paper titled “Cyrus and Elam” at a special session of the meeting of the American Schools of Oriental Research Nov. 19 in Philadelphia. In addition, Waters' article "Making (Up) History" was published in the November/December issue of Archaeology Odyssey, pages 12-20. 
Geography and Anthropology
Harry Jol gave a presentation titled "The Mary’s Well Site in Nazareth: A GPR Overview" at The Land and People Conference July 5-11 at the Beit Allon Museum in Ginosar, Israel.
Geology
J. Brian Mahoney co-edited the Dec. 15 issue of Sedimentary Geology titled “Isotopic Determination of Sediment Provenance: Techniques and Applications,” Vol. 182, issues 1-4, pages 1-210. He also had his paper “Nd and Sr Isotopic Signatures of Fine-Grained Clastic Sediments: A Case Study of Western Pacific Marginal Basins” published in the same issue.
