UW-Eau Claire Classes Resume After Thanksgiving Recess.

Circle K logoCircle K Gift of Love Project. UW-Eau Claire's chapter of Circle K International is sponsoring its 12th annual Gift of Love project through Dec. 2. The item and cash donation drive provides critical winter necessities for Eau Claire families with limited resources. More information.

McIntyre Library Display. A new exhibit titled "McIntyre Library Puts a Book in Your Hands" traces the process by which a university press publishes a book, and how staff members in collection development, cataloging and circulation areas of the library acquire the book and make it accessible to patrons. The exhibit, designed by Jan Bogstad, McIntyre Library/Women's Studies; Jim Oberly, history/American Indian Studies; Ross Guida, UW-Eau Claire student/Blugold Fellow; and John McCrackin, McIntyre Library, will be on display through Dec. 15 in the Grand Corridor of McIntyre Library.

Foster Gallery Exhibits. Two new exhibits will run concurrently: "Holy Sites/Sights," a selection of photographs by faculty and students of the Hartford Art School documenting archaeological excavations in Israel; and an exhibit of works by five UW-Eau Claire bachelor of fine arts degree candidates. "Kitchen Stories" posterCampus Films. "Kitchen Stories." (Norway/Sweden 2003, directed by Bent Hamer, 95 min., subtitled, rated PG.) In post war Sweden it was discovered that every year, an average housewife walks the equivalent number of miles as the distance between Stockholm and Congo while preparing her family meals. So the Home Research Institute sent out 18 observers to a rural district of Norway to map out the kitchen routines of single men. Sponsored by the International Film Society. Lorie LineUAC Special Event. Lori Line and her Pop Chamber Orchestra will present a show titled "My Favorite Things: The 2005 Holiday Extravaganza." The show will showcase Line's personal favorite styles in fashion and music. This holiday extravaganza will have a vintage feel to it and the music will feature many favorites of the 1940s and 50s. Tickets, available at the Service Center, are $47 (main floor/reserved), $40 (bleachers/reserved) or $24 (gallery/general admission). All main floor and bleacher seats are $30 for children 4 to 15. First Fridays Presentation. The Clearwater Trombone Quartet, made up of UW-Eau Claire students Josh Becker, Matt Caine, Brad March and Corey Van Sickle will perform music for the winter season for today’s First Fridays colloquia for senior citizens. Doors open at 8:30 a.m. for a free continental breakfast; program begins at 9 a.m. in the Memorial Lounge of Christ Church Cathedral (corner of Lake and Farwell Streets in downtown Eau Claire). Baxter Black, described by The New York Times as "probably the nation's most successful living poet" will present "Horseshoes, Cowsocks & Duckfeet: An Evening of Cowboy Philosophy." Everything about Black is cowboy — his cartoonish mustache, his personality and his poetry — and it is the truth in his humor that makes it funny, as he exploits the flaws and foibles of everyday cowboy life.
