Following are examples of UW-Eau Claire people and programs that recently appeared in the media. NOTE: Some newspapers, including the Leader-Telegram, require free registration. Donald Mowry, Center for Service-Learning was interviewed on WQOW-TV Nov. 3 for a story about the 'Careers in the Common Good’ career fair held Nov. 3 at UW-Eau Claire. Julie Anderson and Lloyd Turtinen, biology, were interviewed on WEAU-TV Nov. 1 for a story about the biology department's new genetic analysis system. Turtinen also was interviewed about President Bush's plan to stockpile the bird flu vaccine. Doug Dunham, physics and astronomy, and Marc McEllistrem, chemistry, were mentioned in the Nov. 1 Wisconsin Technology Network article "Chippewa Valley reps hope to score at Twin Cities tradeshow." Marian Ritland, Learning and Technology Services, was quoted in the Oct. 31 Computerworld article "Unisys Maps Possible Shift of its Mainframes to Intel Chips — Joint development deal with NEC sets stage for move from proprietary CPUs." Tom Kemp, economics, was quoted in the Oct. 30 Leader-Telegram article "Observers praise, pan Fed chief's predictability." UW-Eau Claire student David Carlson, who returned to Rice Lake Oct. 29 after serving in Iraq, was quoted in the Oct. 30 Leader-Telegram article "At ease, at last — Return from Iraq brings relief to troops, families." Cindy Mudrak, sociology, was quoted in the Oct. 29 Leader-Telegram article "Holiday spirit — Halloween spectacle delights neighbors." |
