Following are examples of UW-Eau Claire people and programs that recently appeared in the media. NOTE: Some newspapers, including the Leader-Telegram, require free registration. Paul Kaldjian, geography and anthropology, will be a guest on the Wisconsin Public Radio program "The West Side" May 8 to discuss dairy farming and the hiring of Latino workers to fill the labor void. The show can be heard at 5 p.m. on WHWC, 88.3 FM. The May 3 Continuing Education program “Creating Cultures of Health: Controlling Health Costs Through Alternative Strategies" was the subject of the May 5 Leader-Telegram article "Economy, health costs linked." The University Theatre production, "The Last Night of Ballyhoo," was the subject of the May 5 Leader-Telegram article "Hiding their heritage — Show portrays 1930s southern Jewish family." Eric Jamelske, economics, was interviewed for the WEAU-TV story "Home Foreclosures on the Rise." The April 30 MS Walk, which began at UW-Eau Claire's Davies Center, was the subject of the WEAU-TV story "Hundreds Shake off Rain for MS Walk." A group of Eau Claire community leaders, including UW-Eau Claire administrators, participated in a walk through the bar area of Water Street during the evening of April 28. The walk was the subject of the April 30 Leader-Telegram article "Drinking on center stage — Slow night still draws attention" and the April 29 WQOW-TV story "Bar Night: Community Leaders Head to Water Street." UW-Eau Claire students Sara Cahanes and Lisa Sergot were quoted in the April 29 Leader-Telegram article "Seeking adventure — Event encourages women to try outdoor activities." |
