Following are examples of UW-Eau Claire people and programs that recently appeared in the media. NOTE: Some newspapers, including the Leader-Telegram, require free registration. Rodd Freitag, political science, was quoted in the April 9 Milwaukee Journal Sentinel article "Green, Doyle contrast sharply: Differences could make broad appeal difficult to attain." UW-Eau Claire Career Services' "Breaking the Ice" Mock Interview Day was the subject of the April 6 WEAU-TV story "'Break the Ice' — Practicing the Interview." Research by Justin Patchin, political science, and Sameer Hinduja, Florida Atlantic University, was mentioned in the article "Parents of the valley, unite against Internet thugs" in the April 5 issue of the Palm Springs, Calif., newspaper, The Desert Sun. The March 30 presentation by compassion fatigue expert Frank Ochberg was the subject of the April 5 Leader-Telegram article "Protecting the protectors — An expert gives tips to health, emergency workers to keep them emotionally fit for duty." The presentation was sponsored by UW-Eau Claire Continuing Education. Katherine Schneider (emeritus), Counseling Services, and her new memoir, "To the Left of Inspiration: Adventures in Living with Disabilities," were featured in the April 3 Spectator article "Retired counselor publishes memoir — Book addresses life of blindness." Ruth Cronje, English, and UW-Eau Claire alumna Rebecca Hutchinson also were quoted in the article. Bob Sutton, College of Business, and Vicky Crane, sociology, were mentioned in the April 3 Chippewa Herald article "Chippewa Falls dentist leads mission to Bolivia." UW-Eau Claire student Joe Kaminski was quoted in a related article, "Dental workers get down to business," in the April 5 issue of the Chippewa Herald. Chancellor Designate Brian Levin-Stankevich's visit to UW-Eau Claire April 3 was the subject of the April 3 WEAU-TV story "Dr. Brian Levin-Stankevich Visits Campus," and the Leader-Telegram articles "Future chancellor visits — Levin-Stankevich buys home, becomes part of UW-EC community" and "Next chancellor envisions building alliances — Levin-Stankevich says legislators need to see positives." Jeanne Skoug, Career Services, and UW-Eau Claire student Chelsea Dammen were interviewed for the WEAU-TV story "Job Outlook for 2006 Grads." UW-Eau Claire student Elisa Lindau was interviewed for the March 31 WQOW-TV story "Helping Hand: UWEC Students in New Orleans." |
