Following are examples of UW-Eau Claire people and programs that recently appeared in the media. NOTE: Some newspapers, including the Leader-Telegram, require free registration. The Hmong Community Fellowship Banquet held March 9 at UW-Eau Claire was the subject of the March 9 WQOW-TV story "Cultural Connection: Hmong Businesses Leaders Look to Branch Out." Frank Ochberg, an internationally recognized leader in the fields of trauma, crisis and coping with violence and cruelty, was interviewed by Joy Cardin March 9 on Wisconsin Public Radio. Ochberg will present "Compassion Fatigue as an Occupational Hazard" during a UW-Eau Claire Continuing Education seminar March 30 at the Plaza Hotel and Suites in Eau Claire. More information. UW-Eau Claire students Doug and LaNetta Black were interviewed for the WEAU-TV story "Retired Adults Look Towards Graduation and Law School." UW-Eau Claire's "Empty Bowls" event March 9 was the subject of the WEAU-TV story "Feed My People Benefits from Student Artists." Raj Aroskar, accounting and finance, was interviewed on WQOW-TV March 8 for a story about investor reaction to the New York Stock Exchange being listed for the first time on the Big Board. Rama Yelkur, management and marketing, was interviewed for the March 8 WEAU-TV story "Women's Day." UW-Eau Claire's Soup and Bread Night was the subject of the March 7 WQOW-TV story "Soup-er Support: Students Step Up to the Plate." Richard Nimke, music and theatre arts, and UW-Eau Claire students Max Athorn and Caitlin Nelson were quoted in the March 2 Leader-Telegram article "Bat Boy — More than a freak show with a rock beat, a UW-Eau Claire musical relays a sometimes funny tale of acceptance." The University Theatre production of "Bat Boy: The Musical" also was the subject of the March 3 Leader-Telegram article "Complex ‘Bat Boy’ characters deliver." Susan Turell, psychology/women's studies, was interviewed on WEAU-TV March 1 for a story about the amendment to the Wisconsin constitution that would restrict the legal rights of nonmarried couples. |
