Nominees sought for McNair Program; Information sessions to be held Feb. 28, March 1 McNair Scholars receive intensive mentoring in an environment of enthusiasm and support. They participate in the four McNair Seminars (IDIS 380, 381, 480, 481), undertake collaborative research with UW-Eau Claire faculty members, and take part in the paid Summer Research Institute. (The stipend for the 2006 Summer Research Institute is $2,800; with additional tuition, housing and dining allowances the value of the Summer Research Institute exceeds $5,800.) The program is a federally funded TRIO program that serves students who are low-income and first-generation college students or a member of a group that is underrepresented by race/ethnicity among recipients of research doctorates. Eligible students submit an application and are nominated by a faculty or academic staff member. Interested students, faculty and academic staff are encouraged to attend one of the information sessions scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 28, and Wednesday, March 1 from 2 to 3 p.m. in the Presidents Room of Davies Center.
