Following are examples of UW-Eau Claire people and programs that recently appeared in the media. NOTE: Some newspapers, including the Leader-Telegram, require free registration. Brian Levin-Stankevich, who will start June 1 as UW-Eau Claire's new chancellor, was featured in the Feb. 26 Leader-Telegram article "Taking it all in: Observers say educator listens to all viewpoints." Read Part I and Part II of the article. Chip Eckardt, Learning and Technology Services, was quoted in an article titled "Colleges adopting free music services" in the Feb. 24 issue of The Badger Herald. Johannes Strohschänk, foreign languages, and UW-Eau Claire students John Lyon and Eric Bartling were quoted in the Feb. 23 Leader-Telegram article "Speaking the language — Students ready for German experience." Nina Albanese-Kotar, Center for Alcohol Studies and Education/Counseling Services, was interviewed for the Feb. 22 WQOW-TV story "Underage Drinking Down at UW-Eau Claire." Justin Patchin, political science, was quoted in an article titled "Cyber Bullying on the Rise Among U.S. Teens" in the February issue of School Reform News. Patchin and fellow researcher Sameer
Hinduja (Florida Atlantic University) created a Web site about cyber bullying, cyberbullying.us, which includes results of their research. The UW-Eau Claire news release "UW-Eau Claire Offers New Information Systems Programs to Better Meet Student and Industry Needs" was reprinted online at wisbusiness.com Feb. 21. UW Eau Claire student Shelly Piontek was interviewed for the WEAU-TV story "UWEC Student goes on Wheel of Fortune." Kris Anderson, Admissions, and Vicki Snider, special education, were interviewed for the WEAU-TV story "Commission Explores Standard Test for Colleges." UW-Eau Claire student Ryan Woehler was quoted in the Feb. 20 Appleton Post-Crescent article "Birkie traditions continue." UW-Eau Claire students Megan O'Connell and Jackie Mueller were featured in the Feb. 19 Leader-Telegram article "Swept aside: Champion curlers get little publicity." |
