Call for nominations for resident assistants
Do you know a student who would make an outstanding resident assistant? Housing and Residence Life is issuing a "call for nominations" to all faculty and staff members who wish to nominate students who would make outstanding applicants.

Nominations should be directed to Deb Newman, associate director of Housing and Residence Life, by phone (836-3674) or e-mail (newmandl@uwec.edu) by Monday, Feb. 6. All nominees will receive a letter and application from Housing and Residence Life and will be encouraged to apply. Applications currently are available in the Housing and Residence Life office, 112 Towers Hall, or from any Hall Director.

New Blugold cards required at McIntyre Library
As of Jan. 1, McIntyre Library will no longer accept old Blugold cards to check out library materials. The new Blugold cards, first made available during the fall 2005 semester, will be required. For information on obtaining a new Blugold card, call the Blugold Card Office at 836-4070.

Tax forms available at McIntyre Library
U.S., Wisconsin and Minnesota tax forms are available in the Grand Corridor of McIntyre Library. Forms are for personal use only, as supplies are limited. The Reference/Government Publications desk on the library's first floor will have forms that can be duplicated for 10 cents each. Forms also may be downloaded from the following Web sites: www.irs.ustreas.gov, www.dor.state.wi.us and www.taxes.state.mn.us.

Steam and electrical outage schedule announced
The spring 2006 steam outage will occur from 6 p.m. May 20 through 4 p.m. May 30. The outage will result in the following:

    • No air conditioning in Hilltop Center.
    • No potable hot water except in Chancellors, Thomas and Murray Halls, all hall directors' apartments, Zorn Arena, Brewer Hall, Human Sciences and Services, McIntyre Library, Nursing and Haas Fine Arts Center (isolated areas).

The summer 2006 planned electrical outage will occur May 24. As a result of the outage, Haas Fine Arts Center, Human Sciences and Services, Towers Hall, Murray Hall and Hilltop Center will be without electrical power for a portion of the day.

The annual utility outages allow for preventive maintenance and repairs that help prevent outages due to breakdowns. An additional notice about the 2006 maintenance periods will be sent by e-mail in late April or early May.
