Following are examples of UW-Eau Claire people and programs that recently appeared in the media. NOTE: Some newspapers, including the Leader-Telegram, require free registration. Rodd Freitag, political science, was quoted in the Sept. 23 Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel article "Two new polls put Feingold in front — But Michels still has time, pollster says." Zoltan Grossman, geography and anthropology, was quoted in a Sept. 23 St. Paul Pioneer Press editorial titled "Immigration a net gain for economy." He also was quoted in an article titled "Bring us your tired, huddled masses (we've got job openings)" in the the September 2004 issue of Fedgazette, a publication of the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis. David Gordon, emeritus, communication and journalism; and Henry Lippold, emeritus, communication and journalism, were quoted in the Sept. 21 Leader-Telegram article "Experts: CBS hurts credibility of media — Course of election could be altered." Joey Bohl, Admissions, was interviewed for a Sept. 20 WEAU-TV story about the Wisconsin Education Fair held Sept. 19 and 20 at UW-Eau Claire. Karl Markgraf, Center for International Education, and Ali Abootalebi, political science, were guests on the Wisconsin Public Radio show "The West Side" Sept. 20. They discussed UW-Eau Claire's study abroad program, international students, and the growing interest among students in world politics. Students studying in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa, through UW-Eau Claire's Study Abroad Program were featured in an article titled "Students help out at community project" in the July 29 issue of the Echo, a Pietermaritzburg local newspaper. |
