Joe Hisrich, emeritus, Academic and Career Services, spoke at a workshop titled "Disability Votes 2004" Sept. 9 at the L.E. Phillips Memorial Public Library in Eau Claire. He discussed the importance of votes by people with disabilities in the upcoming election. Katherine Schneider, emerita, Counseling Services, was shown at the workshop during a WEAU-TV story the same day. Go to top of page

UW-Eau Claire student Andy Pamperin was quoted in a Sept. 7 Associated Press article about a men's group in Altoona that meets to crochet. The article was published online as "Young men gather for Monday night — chrocheting?" by WCAX-TV, Burlington, Vt., and as "Men meet monday nights, but not to watch football" by, Sacramento, Calif. UW-Eau Claire student Patrick Brian was interviewed for a Sept. 6 WQOW-TV story about the UW-Eau Claire "Labor of Love" service day held on Labor Day. Go to top of page

Susan Turell, women's studies/psychology, was interviewed Sept. 3 for a WEAU-TV story about why more women than men currently are enrolling at universities. Go to top of page

Richard Boyum, emeritus, Counseling Services, was quoted in the Aug. 31 Rocky Mountain News brief "Barrels of Bucks," about students' reactions to the cost of a year's worth of beer. Go to top of page

UW-Eau Claire student Jessica Schaid was quoted in an article titled "Diversity and growing pains come to small-town Wisconsin — Two cultures learn to value differences" on the front page of the July 25 Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. The article discussed Somali immigration to Barron, the subject of a collaborative research project between Schaid and Zoltan Grossman, geography and anthropology. Go to top of page
