Construction traffic update
During student move-in days, Aug. 30 and 31, Garfield Avenue will be open one way proceeding west toward the hill. During those days, a University Police officer will be stationed at the corner of Park and Garfield Avenues to allow vehicles with Thomas and Putnam Hall residents (and those who plan to park in Schofield Circle for short periods) to proceed. All other vehicles will be directed to State Street to enter Upper Campus from University Drive. The Garfield Avenue hill will be closed. Vehicles will exit through Putnam Drive and Phillips Lot.
While students and their parents will be allowed to park and unload in front of Thomas and Putnam Halls, no permanent disabled parking will be allowed.
Beginning Sept. 1 and continuing until the riverbank project is completed, Garfield Avenue will be closed at Schofield Circle. Vehicles will be able to enter at the service road near the College of Nursing. There will be 15-minute parking along Putnam Drive and part of Putnam Lot will be available for students with "R" permits. Until the project is completed, students with "R" permits also will be allowed to park in the Haas and Water Street Lots.
