Foreign Languages/Latin American Studies
Eva Santos-Phillips and colleagues from UW-Whitewater and UW-Milwaukee received a UW System curricular redesign grant for their project titled "A Learning Objects Approach to Latin American Studies." The grant was one of six awarded out of 25 proposals submitted.
Geography and Anthropology
Harry Jol and co-authors Becky Goodsell, David Nobes, Michael Finnemore, Bruno de Pasille and Julian Tealby (all from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand) presented a paper titled "Preliminary Results from High Frequency GPR Surveys and a 3D Grid: Davis Snowfield, Franz Josef Glacier, New Zealand" at the 10th International Conference on Ground Penetrating Radar June 21-24, 2004, in Delft,
The Netherlands. The paper also was published in the conference proceedings.

Ronadin Carey, Stephen Elfstrand and Renee Hijleh gave a poster presentation titled "Quick Cooperative Serial Cancellation: An Evidence-Based Approach for Gaining Faculty Support" at the 2005 Association of College and Research Libraries conference April 9 in Minneapolis.
Music and Theatre Arts
Alexandre Dossin performed Paganini's "Rhapsody on a Theme" for piano and orchestra with the Porto Alegre Symphony Orchestra April 26 in Porto Alegre, Brazil. The event was a special commemorative performance marking the 20th anniversary of Dossin's debut with the orchestra in April 1985.
Sociology
Tarique Niazi had his article “China’s March on South Asia” published in China Brief: A Journal of News and Analysis, Vol. 5, No. 9. The article discusses China’s economic investment in the South Asian nations of Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka and the strategic implications of its investment for India and Japan. The article was reproduced by the Asia Center at the University of California, Los Angeles, as well as numerous organizations around the world that specialize in global environmental security. 
Teaching and Learning Technology Development Center
Jessica Franson presented a session titled "The D2L Course Request Process" at the Spring Meeting of the UW System D2L Site Administrators April 25 in Madison.
Donna Raleigh was a panel member for the Desire2Learn Update Panel Presentation at the spring meeting of the administrators of campus units for the Information Technology Management Council, the Educational Media Technology Council and the Learning and Technology Development Council April 11 in Green Lake.
