Following are examples of UW-Eau Claire people and programs that recently appeared in the media. NOTE: Some newspapers, including the Leader-Telegram, require free registration. The April 28 presentation by UW-Eau Claire alumna Pam Matson, now the dean of the School of Earth Sciences at Stanford University, was the subject of the April 29 Leader-Telegram article "Global warming expert says future holds promise — Solutions within reach for population, environmental problems." Bill Frankenberger, psychology, was interviewed on WEAU-TV April 29 for a story about the effect of antidepressant medication advertisements on physicians' prescribing practices. He also was interviewed April 28 for a WAYY radio story on the same topic. UW-Eau Claire student Korah Petrasko was quoted in the April 28 Leader-Telegram article "People leaping from planes for a cause." Erwin Steiner (emeritus), management and marketing, was interviewed on WEAU-TV April 27 for a story about the new bankruptcy laws. Barbara Rolland (emerita), foreign languages, and UW-Eau Claire student Erin Sather were quoted in the April 26 Leader-Telegram article "Homework help — Program benefits students, volunteers." Chancellor Emeritus Donald Mash and several UW-Eau Claire faculty and staff members were quoted in the April 25 Leader-Telegram article "Ex-chancellor's legacy lives on after his exit." Harry Jol, geography and anthropology, has had his research in Israel noted in the following publications: Geological Society of America's Today publication, March 2005; Association of America Geographers monthly newsletter, February 2005; and Simon Fraser University's AQ Magazine, April 2005. |
