Following are examples of UW-Eau Claire people and programs that recently appeared in the media. NOTE: Some newspapers, including the Leader-Telegram, require free registration. UW-Eau Claire student Stephanie Barnes, a member of the UW-Eau Claire women's track team, will be among the featured athletes on CBS television's NCAA Division III winter sports highlight show April 23. The program will run from noon to 1 p.m. on WKBT-TV. Clips of Barnes competing in the pole vault event at the NCAA Division III indoor track and field championships at Illinois Wesleyan University in March will be shown. Barnes placed third in that event to earn All-American honors. UW-Eau Claire student Cody Walker was featured in the April 15 Stoughton Courier Hub article "'Scam' turns out to be offer for $100,000 in tuition." Walker recently received a tuition scholarship from Barbizon Schools of Modeling and Personal Development through a random drawing. UW-Eau Claire psychology students' work with dogs from the Humane Association was the subject of an April 14 WEAU-TV story. UW-Eau Claire student Michael LeMay, a recipient of the prestigious National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellowship, and Kris Anderson, Admissions, were interviewed on WQOW-TV April 13 for a story about LeMay and the advantages of a UW-Eau Claire education. Sean Hartnett, geography and anthropology, was quoted in the April 13 Leader-Telegram article "In deeper water (I) — Lake Altoona bay may have been improperly dredged."
Ali Abootalebi, political science, was interviewed on WEAU-TV April 13 for a story about the war in Iraq. UW-Eau Claire student Maren Hoye was interviewed on WQOW-TV April 12 for a story about UW-Eau Claire's Soup and Bread Night fundraiser. Karen Stuber, University Centers and Programs, was featured in the April 11 Leader-Telegram "Gimme 5" column about the Viennese Ball. |
