Following are examples of UW-Eau Claire people and programs that recently appeared in the media. NOTE: Some newspapers, including the Leader-Telegram, require free registration. Bob Baca, Music and Theatre Arts, and Maria Schneider, one of the visiting artists during UW-Eau Claire's upcoming Jazz Festival, were quoted in the March 27 Leader-Telegram article "Exploring New Worlds." Renae Hestekin, Business Services, was quoted in the March 27 Leader-Telegram article "Pausing to Reflect: Some say Easter is the perfect time for defining life goals and finding ways to slow down." Michael Christopherson, art & design, was quoted in the March 24 Leader-Telegram article "Out look: A UW-Eau Claire exhibit places the works of self-taught artists and trained professors side by side" about the ongoing "Inside Looking Out" exhibit in UW-Eau Claire's Foster Gallery. Interim Chancellor Vicki Lord Larson was featured March 24 in the Phillips newspaper, The-Bee, in the article "Prentice native is now university interim chancellor." Justin Patchin, political science, was quoted in the March 24 Leader-Telegram article "Educators react to school shootings." Laura Chellman, Student Health Service, was interviewed on WEAU-TV March 23 for a story about student access to contraceptives. Terry Gibbons, kinesiology and athletics and head Blugold men's basketball coach, was featured in the March 23 Leader Telegram article "Looking forward." U.S. Sen. Herb Kohl's address during UW-Eau Claire's Senior Americans' Day was covered in the March 23 Leader-Telegram article "Drug costs rankle seniors the most, Kohl says." Comments by Scott Hartsel, chemistry, during Gov. Jim Doyle's March 18 visit to UW-Eau Claire to promote the Wisconsin Institute for Discovery were included in the March 19 Leader-Telegram article "Building for the future: Biomedical center will enable researchers to seek disease cures." The governor's visit also was covered March 18 on WEAU-TV. Joey Bohl, Admissions, was interviewed on WEAU-TV March 15 for a story about Habitat for Humanity's need for volunteers. Margaret Gilkison, political science; Ardyth Krause, social work; Melissa Bonsted-Bruns, sociology; and UW-Eau Claire student Erika Dinkel-Smith were quoted in the March 15 Leader-Telegram article "Lack of female U.S. president discussed." Johanna Oosterwyk, biology, was quoted in the March 13 Leader-Telegram article "Rooting for spring — Greenhouses offer relief from never-ending winter." Vicki Funne Reed, University Recreation, and UW-Eau Claire students Serena Horsager and Luke DallaGrana were quoted in the March 12 Leader-Telegram article "Running o' the green — Shamrock Shuffle raises money for charity." |
