Following are examples of UW-Eau Claire people and programs that recently appeared in the media. NOTE: Some newspapers, including the Leader-Telegram, require free registration. Geoff Peterson, political science, was interviewed on WQOW-TV March 2 for a story about the effect of cell phone use — in place of land line phone use — on the political polling process. Kristina Anderson, Admissions, was interviewed on WQOW-TV Feb. 28 for a story about higher standards for high school students. Elaine Wendt, College of Nursing and Health Sciences, was interviewed on WQOW-TV Feb. 28 for a story about UW-Eau Claire’s new fast-track nursing program. Tarique Niazi, sociology, was quoted in the Feb. 23 Cybercast News Service article “China Gains Strategic Foothold Near Persian Gulf” by Patrick Goodeough. The author quoted Niazi from his original article “Gwadar: China’s Naval Outpost on the Indian Ocean,” which was published in the James Foundation’s journal China Brief and reproduced by numerous Web sites from around the world. Jodi Thesing-Ritter, Office of Student Development and Diversity, was interviewed on WQOW-TV Feb. 23 for a story about binge drinking among Wisconsin college students. Jeremy Hein, sociology, was quoted in the Feb. 20 St. Paul Pioneer Press article “Events exposing Hmong community’s internal politics — long-standing conflicts play out in America.” A protest by UW-Eau Claire students over tuition increases was the subject of a Feb. 18 WQOW-TV story. |
