Counseling Services groups to be offered
The following groups, available to UW-Eau Claire faculty, staff and students, will be led by Counseling Services staff members this semester:

    • ACOA/Co-Dependency: Thursdays, March 3-April 28, 3:30-5 p.m.
   
Assertiveness Training: Wednesdays, March 30-May 4, 3 to 4:30 p.m.
   
Cultural Challenges for Campus Women: Wednesdays, March 2-April 13, 3:30-5 p.m.
   
First Offenders Alcohol Education Groups: Grief Support Group: Tuesdays, March 8-April 5, 3-4:30 p.m.
   
Mothers and Daughters: Tuesdays, March 29-May 3, noon-1:30 p.m.

Free foreign language classes for children to be held
UW-Eau Claire students currently enrolled in the curriculum and instruction course "Teaching Foreign Languages in Grades 1-9" will offer free introductory French and Spanish classes for children in grades 1 through 5.

Classes will meet Thursdays, March 17-May 12, from 4:10 to 4:50 p.m. in Hibbard Hall. Classes will not be held March 24, during UW-Eau Claire's spring recess.

Students help fight hunger with 'empty bowls' event
Ceramics students from the UW-Eau Claire art & design department are once again pitching in to help fight hunger in the Chippewa Valley. The students, under the direction of assistant professor of art & design Susan O'Brien, are donating more than 400 hand-made ceramic bowls to the Feed My People Food Bank for their upcoming "Empty Bowls" fund-raiser.

Student coordinators of this year's project are senior Tiffany Bailey, Bagley, and junior Glen Skolaski, Verona. Senior Rebecca Ouimette, Minocqua, designed the poster for the event.

"Empty Bowls," a benefit supper of soup, specialty breads and desserts, will be held from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 10, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1314 East Lexington Ave., Eau Claire. Full story. Go to top of page

'Feel Better Fitness' classes to be offered in March and April
University Recreation will offer "Feel Better Fitness" classes Thursdays March 10, 17 and 31; and April 7, 14 and 21. Classes, led by Jennifer Peterson, will be held in Room 223 of Schneider Hall. Shamrock Shuffle set for March 13
The Shamrock Shuffle, a 5 kilometer run/walk to benefit UW-Eau Claire's NYSP program and Safe & Sound, will begin at 10 a.m. Sunday, March 13, at the American Legion Post, 634 Water St., Eau Claire.
