Geoffrey Peterson, political science, is volunteering as the Chippewa County Humane Association's media coordinator. He's fielding calls from individuals and businesses who want to help the association and he is providing the media with up-to-date information. The Chippewa County Humane Association was constructing a new building when fire destroyed its existing building, killing dozens of animals housed there. The new building was to open May 1 but the association is now trying to move the timeline up. Peterson is quoted about the project in the Jan. 28 Leader-Telegram article "Donations pouring in as charred shelter falls." Go to top of page

Scott Kilgallon, athletics, was interviewed on WQOW-TV Jan. 27 for a story about sports injuries in children. Go to top of page

Rita Webb, Advising and New Student Initiatives, was one of the individuals featured in the Jan. 27 St. Paul Pioneer Press article "Facing a sudden disaster — Minnesota and Wisconsin residents visiting Sri Lanka pitched in to help when the tsunami struck." Go to top of page

Elaine Wendt, College of Nursing and Health Sciences, was quoted in the Jan. 26 Leader-Telegram article "A shot in the arm — UW-Eau Claire alumni credit school's strong nursing program for their place in the Chippewa Valley's medical community." Several prominent UW-Eau Claire nursing alumni also were quoted in the article. Go to top of page

Jodi Thesing-Ritter, Office of Student Development and Diversity, was interviewed on WEAU-TV Jan. 25 for a story about the TIPS for the University train-the-trainer workshop, a national alcohol education program, attended by 17 student leaders and staff members Jan. 25 at UW-Eau Claire. Terry Balding (emeritus), biology, was interviewed on WEAU-TV Jan. 25 for a story about the Great Grey owls being spotted this winter in the Midwest. Go to top of page

Carole Halberg, Foundation, was featured in the Jan. 24 Leader-Telegram article "Alumna behind UW-EC fund-raising campaign — Woman knows firsthand importance of scholarships." Go to top of page
