Planetarium Program. Featuring "What's Up in Astronomy," a presentation on current topics, such as the planet Mars and the winter solstice. The presentation, for adults and children 8 and older, also includes a 10-minute slide show on light pollution. Tickets are $1 and must be purchased in advance at the Service Center. L.E. Dulany Inn Holiday Buffet. The buffet will include smoked pit ham, chicken Kiev, broccoli Divan, twice baked potatoes, cranberry wild rice, holiday mixed vegetables and complimentary holiday treats. McNair Scholars Colloquium. Seniors in the McNair Scholars Program will present research results to fellow scholars and mentors, and interested faculty, staff and community members. The 30-minute presentations will begin at 6 p.m. in Room 227 of the School of Nursing. Full story.

Winter Commencement. Winter commencement exercises for 643 UW-Eau Claire students will be held in Zorn Arena. Candidates from the College of Arts and Sciences and candidates for master's degrees will receive degrees during a 9:30 a.m. ceremony. Candidates from the College of Business and College of Professional Studies will receive degrees during a 2 p.m. ceremony. A reception for graduates and guests will follow each ceremony in the Spruce-Tamarack Room of Davies Center. Full story.

Alumni Awards Luncheon. Five individuals will be honored: Peter Fernholz, President’s Award; Elizabeth Difanis Phillips, President’s Award; Mark Green, Alumni Distinguished Achievement Award; Richard D.
