sunRegistration under way for Summer Institute
More than 1,000 Chippewa Valley students will take advantage of summer enrichment classes as part of the 27th Annual Summer Institute. Coordinated and sponsored by UW-Eau Claire Continuing Education and UW-Extension, in partnership with the Chippewa Falls and Eau Claire School Districts, Summer Institute offers enrichment classes for first through eighth graders that enhance the school year’s curriculum.

Summer Institute classes, offered mornings and afternoons June 14-24 and July 12-22, provide learning opportunities in a variety of topics, from history and culture, to visual and performing arts, to science and math. Full story. Go to top of page

Trip to Festival of Nations set for May 1
globe with joined hands The Center for International Education is coordinating a trip to the Festival of Nations in St. Paul, Minn., May 1. The festival features ethnic food, cultural exhibits, folk dance ensembles and folk art demonstrations.

A bus will leave Towers Hall at 10 a.m. and depart from the festival at 6 p.m. Cost is $7.50 for UW-Eau Claire students, faculty and staff; or $14 for the public. Supervisory management courses to be offered
UW-Eau Claire Continuing Education/UW-Extension will present several workshops from the Supervisory Management Certificate program in April. The workshops, designed for managers, supervisors and small business owners, may be taken individually or as part of the certificate program requirements. The Supervisory Management Certificate program is co-sponsored by the Small Business Development Center, UW-Eau Claire, UW-La Crosse and UW-Extension. Full story. Go to top of page

Adolescent and families conference planned
family“Challenging Youth, Families and Communities,” the 16th Annual Adolescent and Families Conference, will be held April 21-23 at Lakewoods Resort in Cable.

The conference, sponsored by UW-Eau Claire Continuing Education/UW Extension, is designed for school educators, social workers, counselors, youth workers, law enforcement personnel, parents and others interested in positive youth development. Michael McGowan and Thomas Peacock are conference keynote speakers. Full story. Go to top of page

bookUniversity Bookstore textbook order information
Orders for rental and purchase textbooks for fall semester 2004 were to have been submitted to the University Bookstore by March 19. Rental requests submitted now have lower priority.

Submitting orders for rental and purchase textbooks now allows the bookstore to do the following:
    • order your textbooks early to avoid potential problems.
    • notify instructors about publisher stock situations, edition changes and out-of-print titles.
    • pay students half price for their purchase course books at buyback.

Instructors may call 836-3125 or visit the University Bookstore for assistance. Go to top of page
