Following are examples of UW-Eau Claire people and programs that recently appeared in the media. NOTE: Some newspapers, including the Leader-Telegram, require free registration. John Mann, history,
and UW-Eau Claire students in his "Introduction to Public History"
class were quoted in the March 13 Leader-Telegram article "Student
stroll into history — New class aims to catalog houses near
Randall Park. Barbara Blackdeer-Mackenzie, communication
and journalism, was a guest along with Jane Hamilton-Merritt, Southeast
Asia expert, on the Wisconsin Public Radio show "The West Side"
March 9 to talk about the First Nations/New Nations conference. She
continued to promote the conference during the March 10 WQOW-TV morning
show. A remote broadcast of parts of the conference and an interview
with Blackdeer-Mackenzie were also aired on WAXX and WAYY radio of
Eau Claire. Dan Langlois,
University Recreation, was quoted in the March 5 Leader-Telegram article
"Workshop
brings the outdoors indoors to interested women at UW-EC."
Meghan Knox, a senior and workshop participant, also was quoted. Dale Taylor, allied
health professions, was a featured guest on the
Wisconsin Public Radio show "The West Side, " hosted by
Mary Jo Wagner, March 1. The topic was "Focus on Music:
The Effect of Projected Budget Cuts in the North High School Band
Program." Art Lyons, Academic
Skills Center, was quoted in March 2004 School News article "Men
vs. women in college: A study on academic performance," about
a study that indicates that while men score higher on the ACT, they
have lower grade-point averages than women in college. |
