The Office
of Research and Sponsored Programs will present Faculty/Academic
Staff Forums this spring semester. The programs will be held from 12:10
to 12:50 p.m. Wednesdays in the Presidents
Room of Davies Center, unless otherwise noted. Bring a brown bag lunch
or tray.

10: Charlene Burns, philosophy and religious studies, "Immoral
Acts in the Name of God(s): A View from the Psychology of Religion.

7: Sean Bulger, kinesiology and athletics, "Developmentally
Appropriate Sport Education."

Biology
Evan Weiher served
on a National Science Foundation panel for doctoral dissertation improvement
grants under the Directorate for Environmental Biology Feb. 26-27 in
Washington, D.C. Weiher and UW-Eau Claire graduate Alicia Howe recently
had their paper titled "Scale-Dependence of Environmental Effects
on Species Richness in Oak Savannas" published in the Journal
of Vegetation Science, Vol. 14, pages
917-920. 
Chemistry
Scott Hartsel
had his paper titled "Effect of Heat-Treated Amphotericin B on
Renal and Fungal Cytotoxicity" published in Antimicrobial
Agents and Chemotherapy, Vol. 48, No.
1, January 2004, pages 333-336. The paper was co-authored by Karen Bartlett,
Edwin Yau, Alison Hamer, Gina Tsai, Dan Bizzotto and Kishor M. Wasan
of the University of British Columbia.

John Hildebrand's
article "A Northern Front," which originally appeared in Harper's
Magazine, has been reprinted in the March issue of the German magazine
GEO. The article, on the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, is illustrated
by the acclaimed photographer Subhankar Banjaree.
Condolences
Condolences to Sharon Westphal, psychology,
whose brother, Jeffrey Kelsey, a UW-Eau Claire graduate, died Feb. 27
in Eau Claire.
