The Princely Players to open
spring Artists Series
The
Princely Players, an eight-member vocal ensemble from Nashville, will
present the songs that galvanized the freedom struggle of Africans in
America at its performance Wednesday, Feb.
25, at UW-Eau Claire.
Titled “On the Road to Glory,” the Artists Series presentation
will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Schofield Auditorium.
“On the Road to Glory” presents the songs of hope and liberation
— “Amazing Grace,” “Steal Away,” “Swing
Low, Sweet Chariot,” “We Shall Overcome” and many
others — that bound people together in the struggle against slavery
and racial discrimination. The centuries-long struggle for freedom by
Africans in America stands as an example of the power of the human spirit,
a testament that still speaks to oppressed people today. Full

“Celebrate Teaching 2004” is open to teachers from the community

others who are interested in celebrating the education profession.
Education students provided the impetus for the celebration, which School
of Education Associate Dean Katherine Rhoades hopes will become an annual
event.
“The students said that they wanted to come together to celebrate
our profession, so we decided to do something about that,” Rhoades
said, noting that the university’s School of Education has much
to celebrate. Full

Campus Campaign 2003-04
In their own words: Faculty, staff share
why they give to Campus Campaign
Barbara
Solfest supports a scholarship she once received as an undergraduate.
Michael Carney wants to give back to the place where he earned his bachelor's
degree and where he now pursues his career as a faculty member. Jim
Knutson-Kolodzne hopes to help increase the level of diversity on campus.
Their motivations are varied, but they and many other UW-Eau Claire
faculty and staff members have made the same decision: to participate
in the UW-Eau Claire Foundation's Campus Campaign 2003-04. Eight faculty
and staff members recently shared their reasons for participating as
February, the official month of Campus Campaign 2003-04, enters its
