The Office
of Research and Sponsored Programs will present Faculty/Academic
Staff Forums this spring semester. The programs will be held from 12:10
to 12:50 p.m. Wednesdays in the Presidents
Room of Davies Center, unless otherwise noted. Bring a brown bag lunch
or tray.

science, "Among the Hmongs in Wisconsin:
Political and Cultural Attitudes Among Age Cohorts."

Feb. 11: Mary Zwygart-Stauffacher, nursing systems, with collaborator

Quality: The Nursing Home Experience."

Chemistry
Stephen Drucker
had his paper titled "Ultraviolet Spectrum of Vinylamine"
accepted for publication in the Journal
of Molecular Spectroscopy. Nathan Pillsbury,
a 2003 UW-Eau Claire chemistry graduate, co-authored the paper. 
Foundations of Education
Rob Reid had
the first of 11 contracted articles published in the February 2004 issue
of LibrarySparks magazine, published by Upstart books. The article,
"Noisy Stories," is a specific outline for a library intergenerational
program or classroom activity. The upcoming articles will be a revolving
series of reading readiness activities, author interviews and looks
at innovative children's services in public libraries throughout the
nation. 
Philosophy and Religious Studies
Charlene Burns
presented a paper titled "Only Jung's God Can Help. What Really
Causes Religious Violence" at the Second International Conference
on the Arts and Humanities Jan. 10 in Honolulu, Hawaii. 
Births and Adoptions
Vickie
(Lazar) Schafer, English, and her husband, Ken, announce the birth of
their son, Michael Kenneth Schafer, on Aug. 3, 2003. The baby weighed
7 pounds, 14 ounces, and was 20 inches long when he was born.
