Nathan Miller, as part of a collaboration
led by David Cohen (Swarthmore College), has had a paper titled "High-Resolution
Chandra Spectroscopy of Tau Scorpii: A Narrow Line X-ray Spectrum from
a Hot Star" published in the Astrophysical
Journal, Vol. 586. The observations in the paper, taken with
NASA’s orbiting Chandra X-ray Observatory, challenge current ideas
of X-ray generation in hot stars. The X-rays from Tau Scorpii are both
brighter and higher in energy than expected.
