Also on campus during the week of June 10 are these
free Summer Session Programs:
-
"A Man for All Seasons" (U.K. 1966) will screen
Tuesday and Thursday at noon and 7 p.m. in Davies Theatre, opening a weekly
Summer Cinema series about people making moral choices in an immoral world.
Paul Scofield stars as Sir Thomas More (1478-1535), the deeply principled
Catholic scholar and statesman who was pressured to support the Act of
Supremacy granting Henry VIII's marriage to Anne Boleyn - and Britain's
divorce from the Church of Rome. The film received six Academy Awards,
including Best Picture, Actor (Scofield), Director (Fred Zinnemann),
Screenplay (Robert Bolt, who adapted his play), Cinematography and Costume
Design. Wendy Hiller, Leo McKern, Robert Shaw and John Hurt co-star in
"a picture that inspires admiration, courage and thought" (The New
York Times). Rated G, the 120-minute color film will screen via DVD
projection.
-
Concerts by UW-Eau Claire and area jazz musicians will be
presented from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday through Friday on the Central Campus
Mall (rain: The Cabin of Davies Center). A variety of grilled lunch items
will be sold.
Summer Session Programs continue
through Aug. 1. A complete schedule is available from the Activities and
Programs office, Davies Center 133, 836-4833.
