Dennis Warner to give final Summer Session Programs performance
Dennis Warner will perform a free outdoor family show Monday, July 30, beginning the last week of Summer Session Programs at UW-Eau Claire.
The concert will begin at 7 p.m. on the Central Campus Mall (rain: Schofield Auditorium). Refreshments will be sold. Audience members are invited to bring blankets or folding chairs for lawn seating.
Blending acoustic folk-country music and humor, Dennis Warner presents upbeat, up-tempo concerts for kids and families that are popular in well over 100 cities each year — from small village gatherings in Alaska to huge auditoriums in Florida. His credits include hosting "Jammin’ with Dennis Warner," a special live radio show broadcast by National Public Radio affiliates, and featured spots on NPR’s "Great Acoustics Live!" and "River City Folk." He recently was invited to perform at the prestigious Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.
Warner has been honored three times as a finalist in the Emerging Songwriters Showcase at the internationally renowned Kerrville Folk Fest, and he has appeared many times at The Bluebird Cafe, the Nashville club known for discovering new and exciting songwriters. He recently released his fifth album, "My World," which features strong lyrics, solid guitar work, and performances by Prudence Johnson and Peter Ostroushko.
Also on campus during the week of July 30 are these free Summer Session Programs:
  • "Ever After," a 1998 film that The Washington Post called "a dazzling rendering of the Cinderella story," will screen Tuesday and Thursday at noon and 7 p.m. in Davies Theatre. Drew Barrymore stars as a young 16th-century woman who stands up to her scheming stepmother (Anjelica Huston) and works miracles in the lives of those around her —particularly the crown prince of France (Dougray Scott). Directed by Andy Tennant, the 100-minute film is rated PG-13.
  • UW-Eau Claire and area musicians will present a jazz concert from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday on the Central Campus Mall (rain: The Cabin, Davies Center). A variety of grilled lunch items will be sold.

Funded by UW-Eau Claire student segregated fees, the Summer Session Programs series is sponsored annually by the Activities and Programs Office.
