Fourth Annual Teaching and Learning Symposium set for Aug. 27
The Fourth Annual Teaching and Learning Symposium will be held Monday, Aug. 27, from 1 to 4 p.m. (location to be announced). The Network for Excellence in Teaching will sponsor the event, which will include presentations by 2006-07 learning community members and poster presentations. The early-bird Faculty/Student Collaborative Research Grants deadline is July 16. Please note that the individual college deans' offices may set earlier deadlines for their review processes. The regular deadline for this program is Sept. 15.

Katherine Schneider had her essay "The Working World: Before and After the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990" published in the recently released book "Disabled Faculty and Staff in a Disabling Society: Multiple Identities in Higher Education," edited by M. Vance and published by AHEAD.
Matt Waters' article “Media and its Discontents” appeared in the Journal of the American Oriental Society, 125.4, 2005, pages 517-533, published in June 2007. The piece is a review article of the book "Continuity of Empire: Assyria, Media, Persia," edited by Giovanni B. Lanfranchi, Michael Roaf and Robert Rollinger, Padova, 2003.
Condolences to the family of Gilbert Tanner. Tanner, a UW-Eau Claire associate professor emeritus of geography, died June 28 in Richmond, Va. See Leader-Telegram article about Tanner.
