CASE offers BASICS practitioner training
UW-Eau Claire's Center for Alcohol Studies and Education will host a three-day training session Aug. 23-25 for university faculty and staff as well as community members who would like to learn the BASICS (Brief Alcohol Screening and Intervention for College Students) method with Dr. George Parks, a clinical psychologist and associate director of the Addictive Behaviors Research Center at the University of Washington-Seattle. The training also will make it possible for participants to conduct training sessions in CHOICES About Alcohol, a group intervention for use by housing and residence life staff, first year experience instructors, etc. Materials and assistance will be provided.

The training is free for UW-Eau Claire faculty and staff and $75 for community members. Meals are not included. With the exception of the morning of Aug. 23, the training is intended for psychologists and prevention specialists, counselors, physicians and physician assistants, nurses and social workers.
