Political Science
Obika Gray was a panelist during a conference June 8-10 at the University of the West Indies that focused on the contributions of Richard Hart to Jamaican and Caribbean politics. Hart was a founding member of the People's National Party and one of the pioneers of Marxism in Jamaica. More information. Go to top of page

Dale Taylor (emeritus) performed in the Chippewa Valley Theatre Guild production of "Jesus Christ Superstar" April 27-30 at The State Regional Arts Center in Eau Claire. Go to top of page

Sociology
Melissa Bonstead-Bruns had her article titled “Assessing the Use of Service-Learning Projects for Meeting the Goals of the First-Year Experience Course” published in the March 2006 issue of Teaching Forum. The article was the result of research funded by a Scholarship of Teaching and Learning grant from the Network for Excellence in Teaching and the Center for Service-Learning. Go to top of page

Condolences to Jeff Johnson, Facilities Planning and Management, and Susie Johnson, Chancellor's Office. Jeff's mother and Susie's mother-in-law, Merna Jean Johnson, died May 27 in Eau Claire. Full obituary.

Condolences to the family of Madeleine Lieffring. Lieffring, an associate professor emerita of social work at UW-Eau Claire, died April 26 in Arizona. She was a member of the social work faculty from 1967-87. Full obituary.
