Following are examples of UW-Eau Claire people and programs that recently appeared in the media. NOTE: Some newspapers, including the Leader-Telegram, require free registration. Dick Boyum (emeritus), Counseling Services, discussed "recipes" for a healthy relationship May 27 on the WEAU-TV morning show. He also discussed coping with fear June 6 and substance abuse June 13 on the same show. Boyum will appear on the show June 16 to discuss strategies for coping with the death of a pet. Geoffrey Peterson, political science, was quoted in the June 8 Marshfield News Herald article "Council to form survey questions." John Ridge (emeritus), foundations of education; and Alice Ridge (emerita), communication and journalism; were mentioned in the June 5 Milwaukee Journal Sentinel article "Enthusiasts trying to get trail back on the road — Officials want to revive cross-country highway." UW-Eau Claire graduate Travis Franz was featured and quoted in the June 3 St. Louis (Mo.) Post Dispatch article "On the road with the online mapmakers." Sister Joel Jacobi, who retired from the UW-Eau Claire family health nursing faculty in 1995, was interviewed on WQOW-TV June 3 for a story about her work in Eau Claire and her upcoming departure. Steve Tallant, Academic Affairs, was interviewed on WEAU-TV for a story about ROTC programs at UW System schools. UW-Eau Claire academic staff member Rita Webb, who was working in Sri Lanka when the December 2004 tsunamis occurred, was interviewed on WQOW-TV May 23 for a story about fund raising for Sri Lanka by Altoona and Fall Creek students. UW-Eau Claire's spring commencement ceremony was covered by WEAU-TV. The piece mentioned Chancellor Emeritus Donald Mash as commencement speaker, the total number of graduates and MBA graduates. Adam Condit, a May UW-Eau Claire graduate, was featured in the May 20 Leader-Telegram article "A running legacy — Soon-to-be grad sixth member of family to attend UW-Eau Claire."
UW System President Kevin Reilly was interviewed on WQOW-TV May 17 for a story about consolidating UW System campuses. Kristina Anderson, Admissions, was interviewed on WQOW-TV May 16 for a story about high school class rankings. Thomas Hilton, management information systems; Gretchen Hutterli, College of Business; and Dawna Drum, management information systems; were quoted in the May Chippewa Valley B2B article "Talking technology: Mending the communication gap that can exist with I.T. staff." |
