Chemistry
Michael Carney recently received a $30,000 grant from the Research Corporation's Cottrell College Science Awards to study octahedral coordination geometry and its impact on polymerization catalysis. Carney also received $50,000 from the Petroleum Research Fund, administered by the American Chemical Society, for the same project. 
Geology
J. Brian Mahoney recently received a grant from the British Columbia and Yukon Chamber of Mines for his project titled "Economic Mineralization Potential Along the Eastern Margin of the Coast Plutonic Complex,
Whitesail Lake Map Area, British Columbia."
Collaborators are Jim Mortensen, University of British Columbia, and
Jim Haggart, Geological Survey of Canada. Mahoney also received a grant from the U.S. Department of the Interior for his project titled "Geological Analysis of the Southern Margin of the Devil's Fence Anticline." Phil Ihinger is a collaborator on the project.
