Crispin Pierce had his article titled "Exponential Modeling, Washout Curve Reconstruction and Estimation of Half-Life of Toluene and its Metabolites" published in the Journal of Toxicology and Environmental Health, July 23, 2004, Vol. 67, No. 14, pages 1131-58. The abstract of the article can be viewed online. This work also will be featured in the September 2004 Council on Undergraduate Research Quarterly Highlights publication. Pierce's research on the gasoline additive MTBE (methyl tertiary butyl ether) also will be presented in a poster titled "Toxicokinetics of MTBE in Human Subjects" at the Conference of the Association of Schools of Public Health July 11-14 at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. The poster will highlight work by Pierce's research students Julie Freidhoff, Alison Deneen and Ashley La Casse. Pierce also recently accepted a position as visiting assistant professor at the University of Washington in Seattle for the summer 2004 session to conduct research in toxicokinetics (how the body absorbs, distributes, metabolizes and excretes dangerous substances).
