Calling all faculty/staff experts!

News Bureau can help faculty/staff get the word out
The News Bureau issues hundreds of news releases, public service announcements and news tips (many of which are included in our campus publications) on subjects such as faculty/student research, innovative teaching, unique classes and major honors and achievements. We also use e-mails, phone calls and meetings to interest reporters in covering stories about UW-Eau Claire programs and people. Faculty and staff are our best source of potential stories. If you have news or feature story ideas for general release, send e-mail to Judy Berthiame or call 836-4745. If you have an item for the Summer Bulletin or University Bulletin only, e-mail Liz Wolf Green or call 836-3525.

Internet dial-up access will continue
As of July 1, DiscoverNet, an Internet service provider, began administering dial-up access via the UW-Eau Claire modem pool. UW-Eau Claire's contract with DiscoverNet allows members of the university community to gain access to university resources at a reduced rate. The basic service plan includes 10 hours of access per week at a cost of $14.95 for three months. An expanded plan offers 50 hours of access per week at a cost of $26.95 for three months.

Users will continue to use their current UW-Eau Claire user names and passwords. Additional options for departments and individuals also will be offered. As these plans become available, DiscoverNet and Computing and Networking Services will provide more information.

Users may subscribe to this service by filling out an online form or by calling DiscoverNet at 830-1500. Questions may be directed to the CNS Help Desk at 836-5711.

McPhee Center summer hours
McPhee/Olson facility summer hours are as follows:
    • Monday-Thursday: 5:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.
    • Friday: 5:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
    • Saturday: Closed
    • Sunday: 5:30-9:30 p.m.

UW-Eau Claire’s online Experts Directory has been updated for the current year. Check it out and decide if you’d like to participate.

The campus experts listed are available to provide comments to the media on a variety of topics and issues and may be available to speak to service and professional groups.
