Summer Fitness Classes. A variety of free fitness classes will be offered during summer session. English Table. The university and Eau Claire community is invited to join English Language Academy Intensive English Program participants as they practice English. Jazz at Noon. Featuring UW-Eau Claire and area jazz musicians. A variety of grilled lunch items will be sold. Central Campus Mall (rain site: The Cabin, Davies Center), noon to 1 p.m. Through June 27.

Music on the Mall. Featuring Matt Wahl. A singer-songwriter who plays acoustic guitar and harmonica, Wahl spent three years in an office cubicle before giving up the corporate life for the open road. Audience members are invited to bring blankets or folding chairs for lawn seating. Central Campus Mall (rain site: Schofield Auditorium), 7 p.m.

Summer Cinema. "Romeo and Juliet." (U.S. 1996, directed by Baz Luhrmann, 120 minutes, rated PG-13.) Shakespeare's tragedy is updated to the fictional Miami-style Verona Beach, where two teenagers (Leonardo DiCaprio, Claire Danes) pursue their love for each other despite the fact that their families have been at odds with each other for decades. The story combines sword fighting, disguise, misunderstanding, tragedy, humor and some of the most romantic language found in literature. Davies Theatre, noon and 7 p.m. Also June 26.

IAEC Big Band Concert. The Indianhead Arts & Education Center will host its annual Tribute to the Big Bands at the IAEC auditorium, 802 1st Street, Shell Lake. The concert will feature classic big band tunes performed by the IAEC Faculty Jazz Band, comprised of Brent Wallarab, Dave Pavolka, Lennie Foy, Bill Buchholtz, Greg Keel, Dave Milne, Luke Gillespie, Steve Zenz, Nick Schneider and Bill Sears. Tickets, available at the door, are $10 for adults or $5 for students. Proceeds from the concert will benefit the IAEC Scholarship Fund, which provides financial assistance for students to attend IAEC summer camps.
