Foster Gallery Exhibit. An exhibit titled "Rome is Burning/The New School" showcases art from outside the mainstream contemporary art world, including works in underground comix, rock posters, graffiti art, Kustom Kulture and graphic design. The exhibit runs through Dec. 2. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays, 6 to 8 p.m. Thursdays and 1 to 4:30 p.m. weekends. More information.

American Indian Heritage Month Event. UW-Eau Claire will celebrate American Indian Awareness Month in November with a variety of activities. Today George Perry, a self-taught Ojibwe artist/painter who enjoys painting nature and Native American arts, will give a presentation from 4 to 5 p.m. in Schofield Auditorium. More information.

Court 'n Rink Luncheon. UW-Eau Claire's head women's basketball coach Tonja Englund and head men's basketball coach Terry Gibbons will discuss the current season. The cost for the luncheon is $6 per person and includes a sandwich, beverage and cookie provided by Mancino's. Joint Celebration Diwali and Hanukkah. A joint celebration of the Hindu holiday of Diwali and the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah will be held. Both holidays are festivals of light, and the act of lighting candles and lamps is a prominent feature of both. Speakers will explain the cultural and religious significance of both holidays.
